Gold Cap Development creates places that connect people and enhance neighborhoods.

Rooted in the belief that a well designed and exceptionally run hospitality concept can be catalytic to the development of an area, Gold Cap prides itself on partnering with local real estate and design professionals to bring soulful developments to life. Beyond just restaurants, Gold Cap has also led and actively participated in the development of multi-family, hotel and office projects throughout their footprint.

Gold Cap believes that good development should always:
1. Satisfy an unmet need in the community.
2. Prioritize exceptional design.
3.  Be collaborative in nature.

LEADERSHIP

The strategy and values at Gold Cap are guided by Nate Kaeding, an Iowa City native and founding principal at the firm. His expertise is the cumulative product of a lifelong engagement with his hometown, a passion for local history, and ten years of hospitality, real estate development and venture investing experience. He currently serves as a Director on the Board at MidWestOne Bank and MidWestOne Financial Group (NASDAQ: MOFG) as well as on the State of Iowa’s Enhance Iowa Board.

Prior to his work in hospitality and real estate, Nate had a 9-year career as a placekicker in the NFL. At the University of Iowa, he was a two-time First Team All-American and is the all-time leading scorer in Iowa football history. While traveling the country, he used his downtime as a professional football player to observe and study the restaurants and communities unique to the places he was visiting. After retiring in 2013, he earned an MBA from the Tippie College of Business . If football hadn’t worked out, he might have been a history teacher. He lives in Iowa City with his wife and four children.
